Tropical Weather Day

Published by mpaulin at 11:01 pm under weather Edit This

We have had an unusal weather pattern this summer, it felt more like a drawn out spring as we never did get ’summer’ type weather until last week.  This week, the summer weather pattern continued where the day time temperatures were in the low to mid 80s and humid.

Today, we had tropical weather conditions where the high temperature was in the low 80s and the warm, moist air just poured in.  This type of weather is typically associated with tornado formation and the entire state was under a tornado warning this afternoon through 9 PM this evening.  Tornado activity is not that common here in the northeast.

While we never had a tornado from this event, we did have some strong winds, heavey rains and some areas had some potent thunderstorms.  I was working this evening to help a local youth camp with their sportsmanship banquet.  We had contingency plans in place that should we loose our electricity, we would still be able to cook and serve the banquet, even though most of the equipment in the kitchen was powered by electricity and we had no generator.

We never did loose power, other than some heavy rains, we did not get any thunderstorms or high winds.  We are now focusing on what might show up on our doorstep from Hurricane Bill.
