Weather Round-Up for Week of February 1st

Published by mpaulin at 1:00 pm under weather Edit This

It’s a heat wave!  No, not really, but to the New Englander, today’s temperatures seems like a heat wave compared to what we had just a few days ago.

The weather this week has been relatively quiet compared to some weeks.  Last weekend, it was sunny and the weekend temperatures rose into the 20s and 30s.  Monday, was mostly cloudy and then in the early evening, some areas saw a short burst of light snow that did not amount to any significant accumulation.

Tuesday, we fortunately did not get the nor’easter that was forecasted – it had the makings to be a nasty storm with lots of snow and wind, however, it stayed south and headed out to sea (like all good storms should do).  Tuesday evening brought about an inch to inch and half of light snow.

Wednesday and Thursday were sunny, but cold, with Thursday being the colder of the two days.  Overnight temperatures Wednesday into Thursday dropped into the single digits and wind chills below 0.  Friday was sunny and warmer with temperatures hitting the upper 20s and here we are today – a nice sunny day and we may hit 40!.

Weather Lore for this month – If bees get out in February, the next day will be windy and rainy.
