Apple Unveils The New Macintosh Computer
Twenty four years ago today, the first Macintosh computer went on sale for a price of $2,495! The Mac, as commonly known, is the brand name for a line of computers from Apple Computer, Inc., with the first one being released on January 24, 1984. This was the first commercially successful computer to use a mouse and a graphical interface instead of a text-based command line interface.
The Macintosh featured a desktop graphical interface with ‘icons’ that resembled common items that individual users would be familiar with such as: file folder for files, and the trash can for deleted items. The first Macintosh had 128K of memory, a black and white monochrome 9 inch screen, 8 mhz Motorola 68000 on a 16bit bus. The machine came with a one button mouse and a keyboard that resembled a typewriter keyboard without the number pad (which was an optional feature). Software was a standard package of a paint program and a basic word processing program. This model sold from January to September of 1984, before the next generation of the Macintosh was released.
The Apple line of computers has continued to evolve over the years and is now one of the top selling machines in the graphics, multimedia, and web design industry. Apple continues to manufacture a very user friendly computer today that started with the original Macintosh way back in 1984.

Interesting. I wonder how popular this one will get.
