Peaceful Transition of Power
“I do solemly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
At 12:00 noon, Eastern time, on the west steps of the Capital of the United States in Washington, DC., Barrack Hussein Obama will become the 44th President of the United States and Joe Biden will be sworn in as the Vice President of the United States. This historic event will be presided over by the Chief Justice of the United States.
On this day, let us put aside our differences and opinions on what you think about the incoming administration. If you voted for them or not, this day is an important day in the history of our country, it is a day that we can have a smooth and peacful transition from one president to the next. This day and all of its events are about the office of the president and represents the rich heritage we enjoy in America.
“A New Birth Of Freedom” is the theme for this years inauguration event. We are honoring the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln and commemorating his vision of hope in the Gettysburg Address.
A general schedule of events includes the Presdent elect having coffee with the outgoing President at the White House, a Church Service, the motorcade procession to the swearing in cerimonies, taking the oath of office, the inauguration speech, the farewell to the outgoing President and the inauguration parade.
President Bush now leaves office after eight years of service to our country. Many events happened during the course of his administration, with the most prominent event being the events of September 11, 2001. May God Bless President Bush and his family for their many years of service to the country.
