Winter Weather Advisory
The first winter weather event has started here in New Hampshire as snow, sleet, and freezing rain began this afternoon. As we enter the winter season, here are a few terms that the National Weather Service uses in their public statements regarding winter weather.
Outlook: Winter storm conditions are possible in the next 2-5 days. Stay tuned to local media for updates.
Watch: Winter storm conditions are possible within the next 36-48 hours. Prepare now!
Warning: Life-threatening severe winter weather conditions have begun or will begin within 24 hours. Act now!
Advisory: Winter weather conditions are expected to cause significant inconveniences and may be hazardous. If you are cautious, these situations should not be life threatening.
Winter weather travel is tricky, as I write this blog, the scanner is going off with numerous motor vehicle accidents throughout the region due to the slick roads. Drive carefully if you must travel during winter weather.
Today’s weather almanac: Sunrise at 6:59 am and sunset at 4:15 pm. Today’s low was 20F and the high is 32F.
I managed to squeek in a hiking trip and nab a geocache before the snow started to all this afternoon - it was nice little park in Richmond, NH - a forest preserve that had some unusual rock formations.

What made the rock formations so unusual? ~Momma http://savemoneymomma.today.com
Hi Mike, I have never gone to a blog page before. Interesting
I like your weather tidbits. You have done a good job. Happy geocaching! Debbie
The rock formations in the park centered around a large (over 20′ tall) square rock and an assortment of other odd shaped rocks, nestled in the center of a pine grove. It was neat to come through the pines and enter the clearing to see this massive square rock. (I need to get a camera so I can take pictures along my geocaching trips)
