Wide spread flash flooding in 2001

Published by mpaulin at 3:12 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

On this day in 2001, there was wide spread flash flooding in parts of central North Carolina and Tennessee.  Numerous roads were closed.  In Stewart County, the only remaining wooden bridge was washed away (wonder how many previous rain events it survived?).  Schools and businesses were also closed due to the flooded roads.

Here in NH today, woke up and the mountain was covered with snow from the snow squals last night.  The sun came out and it was great day to go  for a hike and to do some geocaching.  What is geocaching - will save that one for another post, or you can visit www.geocaching.com to learn more.

Almanac for the day - sun rise 6:58, sun set is at 4:16.  The low today was 32 and the high temperature for the day is 37, which also is the present temperature.  Short range forecast is for increase in clouds and possibility of some precipitation.

As this blog develops, what would you like to see posted?  Do you like weather statistics, history?  I look forward to your comments….
